Knode and MGA Thermal announced today significant progress on a 180 megawatt-hour industrial-scale electro-thermal energy storage (ETES) project in Western Australia to deliver renewable heat for industrial processes.

After more than ten years of development and breakthrough materials engineering, MGA Thermal’s world-first steam-integrated latent heat Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES) system — capable of dispatching industrial-grade steam from renewable energy — has now gone live.

We are thrilled to announce MGA Thermal, has been selected by Chevron to conduct an initial engineering and design study for an innovative clean steam solution. This study marks a significant milestone for MGA Thermal and underscores the growing importance of decarbonisation technologies in the energy sector. The study focuses on the application of MGA Thermal’s clean steam solution on a 5MWh trial unit designed for a Chevron site.
